At this point, one-pointed determination comes in bursts, and the force/momentum of each burst wanes over time. So, there come times when spiritual action (like meditation, reading, self-reflection, efforts toward group work) seems effortless, but then the energy seems to wane. We can't keep waiting for the "right moments" when spiritual action seems viable. Until the search is taken from us, we must fight like hell, as Richard Rose would insist. Spiritual action should be sustained and, in fact, carried on with ever-increasing intensity. This is crucial for generating the mental quantum necessary for breakthrough to be possible.
This is the little reminder that I pull onto the screen and read, when the going gets a little rough:
Questioner: "When an endeavor is made
to lead the right life
and to concentrate thought on the Self,
there is often a downfall and break.
What is to be done?"
Sri Ramana: "It will come all right in the end.
There is the steady impulse
of your determination
that sets you on your feet again
after every downfall and breakdown.
Gradually the obstacles are all overcome
and your current becomes stronger.
Everything comes right in the end.
Steady determination
is what is required."
Images of Essence: The Standing Now is a contemplative meditation in words and pictures, conveying an achingly beautiful reminder of our quest for light, love, truth, and being. Its harmony of sight and sound remind us of our true home. Each photo by Nostalgia West photographer Bob Fergeson and accompanying poem by mystic poet Shawn Nevins builds a crescendo of introspective silence ... one at a time, leading us beyond time.
Dr. Ron Masa, founder of The University of Yourself, says: "It's like Rumi with a Nikon." See The Mystic Missal site for a video trailer, sample pages and ordering. A beautiful present for yourself, a loved one, a friend. |
